Releasing Target Malaria: The Game - Early Access
25/11/2024
We're excited to announce the launch of the first public build of Target Malaria: The Game.
After a year-long collaboration between Target Malaria, Imperial College London, and myself (Michael), a solo game developer, we are thrilled to share this educational game with you. The game aims to shed light on the daily efforts of lab technicians at Imperial College to eradicate malaria - a parasitic disease spread by mosquitoes that kills over half a million people each year.
As this is an early access build, you will currently have access to a couple of playable experiences:
Microinjection: Emulates a microinjector - a complex piece of equipment combining a microscope and injection needle - used for injecting mosquito embryos with a solution that augments their genetics.
Transgenic Screening: Simulates the process of separating genetically modified mosquito larvae from non-modified variants using a fluorescent microscope, pipette, and petri dish.
We have plans to add more modules and enhance the player experience in the future.
Exhibition Mode: This mode, showcased at the Great Exhibition Road event and New Scientist Live, is designed for exhibitions where people will play one after the other.
We hope you enjoy the game and learn something that perhaps you didn't know before.
